Pour: a water sort puzzle, one pour at a time

Pour coloured layers between tubes until every tube holds a single colour. From 3 colours up to 14, every board solvable and every board with a par to beat. Your rating opens harder boards as you improve. 1,200 levels, no ads, no lives, no sign-up.

How to play Pour

  1. Every tube holds up to four layers. Pour the top colour of one tube onto the same colour in another, or into an empty tube.
  2. The whole top run of a colour pours at once, as much as fits.
  3. Finish with every tube full of one colour or empty. Par is the fewest pours the board needs; come close to it for three stars.

Controls

  • Tap a bottle to pick it up, then tap the bottle to pour into. While it pours, tap more bottles to pour into each in turn. Tap it again to put it down.
  • Undo a pour, Restart the board, or ask for a Hint when you're stuck.
  • Turn on symbols in the game's settings to tell colours apart by shape.

How to solve water sort puzzles

1. Keep a tube empty

An empty tube takes any colour, so it is the most valuable thing on the board. Fill one only when it uncovers a colour you can pour straight away, and empty it again soon.

2. Build on colours that are already on top

Before you reach for a spare tube, look for two tubes with the same colour on top: joining them frees a layer for nothing.

3. Pick a home for each colour

A colour that sits at the bottom of a tube is easiest to finish there. Clear what's on top of it rather than moving the bottom layer.

4. Look before you pour

A pour that fills the last spare tube with a colour you can't follow up is how most boards get stuck. If it happens, undo a few pours; the hint will also tell you when a board can no longer be sorted.

Your first boards are tiny — two colours in two bottles and one spare — to learn the one rule; after that every board has two spare bottles. Difficulty adapts to you: every finished board updates your rating, the next one is picked around it, and the harder tiers open as your rating climbs. Inside a tier, stronger players get the boards with more dead ends.

Pour questions

Is Pour like Water Sort or Family Sort?

Yes. Pour plays like the popular water sort and colour sort games: tap a tube, tap another, and the top colour pours across. Pour has no ads, no lives and no timers, and every level is checked to be solvable.

Can every level be solved?

Yes. A solver sorts every board before it ships and works out par, the fewest pours it takes. If you get stuck, undo, start over, or ask for a hint.

How do the stars work?

Stars count your pours against par. Finish within a quarter over par (plus two) for three stars, within twice par for two. Undone pours still count, and hints cap the stars.

How do harder levels open?

Pour rates your play like a chess rating. Every finished level moves your rating up or down, and the next board is picked around it, so more colours and trickier boards open up as you get better.

Can I play Pour offline?

Yes. After the first visit it works with no connection. Add it to your home screen to use it like an app — here's how.
